Welcome to Jerry’s Sandwich Shop!

My name is Gerald, aka Jerry, and I own Jerry’s Sandwich Shop.  I have owned Jerry’s, formerly known as The Retreat, since July of 2015, and I have loved being a part of the Hartford Hospital community ever since.  

Many of my customers have been coming to this restaurant since before I took over and have built amazing relationships with them that have turned into friendships. There are so many regulars, that we just continue our conversations from the last time they visited. I did a remodel in 2018 because I wanted to make the space more customer friendly, and put more of my own touches on the place. 

My love of cooking and baking started when I was a child, and I opened my first bakery at the age of 22. I have catered throughout the years, and I have always wanted to own my own breakfast and lunch spot. When The Retreat became available, I just knew it was the right fit for this venture.

I look forward to cooking for my friends, and my new customers who come to eat but leave as new friends. This originally started just as the Hartford Hospital community as we are in a medical arts building across from Hartford Hospital, but since has grown into a larger business due to online orders and rapid growth. My customers word of mouth and the online presence helps me grow and I now have an associate who cooks Latin American food, and everyone, including my family, absolutely love it. 

I would say my favorite thing on my menu has to be making our own Corned beef hash.  We also have a Maple Sriracha Mayo sauce better known as my “Crack Sauce” that people just cannot seem to get enough of.  

We are open Monday Thru Friday from 7 a.m. until 2 p.m. and we look forward to having new customers come in and leave as friends!
